Getting Back In-Shape

This past week of training was wonderful! I got back in the water and the weight-room on Monday afternoon. Eddie and I wasted no time getting back into the swing of things. I didn't fully taper and I didn't shave for the meet so it was important to get back in the water and take my body to its top level of fitness as soon as possible. I felt really good in training all week. I went down in training for two weeks leading up to the Austin meet because I needed to let my body recover some and swim fast. When I started training again I could tell my body and mind had a reprieve and was once again ready to work. Tuesday and Wednesday were literally some of the best days of training I have had in a very long time. I am so encouraged and excited to get super fit and fine tune my skills even more going into this summer.

My sister is currently visiting me in Austin and we have had a great time catching up. We don't generally get to spend much time together so it's great to have an opportunity to reminisce about when we were younger. Today we tried to go to Wimberley, Texas which is supposed to be about an hour from my house. We never actually made it to Wimberley. We did drive through some very beautiful Texas countryside but never actually found the little town... Oh well I guess that's something to try next time.

I'll be traveling to San Diego on Monday to train at the Olympic Training Center for two weeks. I'm really looking forward to training with some different athletes and coaches. I truly believe Texas is the best place in the world to train but it is always nice to get a change of pace. I will definitely be updating ya'll on my training and fun out on the West coast.

Do you prefer to drive without a portable GPS system (e.g. Garmin)?

Yeah, Wimberley is a nice town, my brother got married there, they even have ziplining! Have fun in San Diego, thanks for everything you do with the Fairfield house!

Wimberley was on my list to take the guys to visit when we were in TX, but just couldn't find the time. It was very nice meeting you @ the swim meet! The guys talked about it @ the swim team meeting that was held last night. Have a safe trip!

SAN DIEGO! Takin' a little trip on over here to Sunny ole California, huh??

If you ever get bored and think, gee, I should go on a road trip! You should come visit Merced... it's a small town but it's a great one! lol.

And I hear ya on the portable GPS... my friends and I get lost everywhere we go, it'd be nice to have a little person telling us where to go.... lol. That's awesome about the training... it's always great to get back into shape!! :)

Hi Garrett. I'm a swimmer in Jersey and I am really a fan of you. You're really one of the more down-to-earth swimmers of your type:)

I actually qualified for Nationals when I was 12 and now I'm going again for the third time this year. I was wondering if you had maybe a tip or two for me of how to get pumped up for a race. I'm a butterflyer and doing the 200 at Nats will be hard. :)

It's OK if you don't have time to respond to this comment but it would be nice if you could. Thanks so much, you're great=]

you can do Wimberley next time...

Good work on your swimming! I'm sure you'll do great at Nationals. In terms of getting pumped up for your races that comes from within you. Everyone gets pumped up in different ways. I prefer to stay relaxed and just let my excitement run the show. I get really excited about swimming fast and that's what pumps me up. Maybe you want to listen to music. Maybe you could visualize your race. Just be confident in the training you've done and the sacrifices you've made to swim fast and you will succeed.

you are really cute when you shave. I'm not so much a fan of the 'bushy look'. Shave more oftennnn! lmao :0
