Shark...Hmmmmm?

I snapped this picture at the fish market yesterday! I've never seen a whole shark in the case before but it was pretty cool...I wonder if people buy the whole shark? What would they use it for? How would they cook it?

You can make wonderful shark steaks in a simple marinade (ketchup, soy, orange and lemon juice, fresh parsley, garlic and pepper) and then grill it. Very tasty!

do people cook the whole shark as one?

I don't know of any recipe that calls for an entire baby size shark. I read this on the internet "Sharks must be bled immediately after they are caught, or the meat takes on an ammonia taste. Most shark is properly treated. A slight ammonia smell can be eliminated by soaking the meat in buttermilk or lemon juice for 30 minutes". Eew! :)

Shark is some of the best fish I've ever had... I wouldn't mind buying a whole one. It's real good with a homemade honey mustard glaze... yum.

As a surfer I have elected not to eat shark, you know the whole karma thing. Sharks a lot lighter in color then you would think it would be. more like mahi then tuna in color
